The Mind – Body Connection What would it mean if the thoughts we have when we start our day actually affect what happens without our having to do anything about it? What if all thoughts, conscious or not, influence the world? Would we start the day yelling at our children? Dashing out the door? Making "to do" lists? How would it change our lives?

We are learning, from quantum physics, neurosciences and consciousness studies remarkable connections between mind and body. Thoughts, or the way you decide to think, has a dramatic effect on your body chemistry and on your physiology. For every thought you have, a physiological event occurs in unison with that thought. Your physiology determines your energy and action level. If your internal self-talk is negative, then the physiology that simultaneously occurs will be just as negative resulting in suppressed energy and action. You are mentally and physically programming yourself to go through life in a particular way. The same is true with positive thoughts. When you think positive, happy thoughts, there's actually a different chemistry that goes into your body than when you think depressing, negative, anguished thoughts.

Since you can only hold one thought at a time, if you think about what you want and how to get it, and then take the steps that come to your mind, eventually you won’t have time to think about all of your problems. Pretty soon it becomes habit. You develop a series of neuro-connections in your brain that make it easy and automatic for you to focus on what you want. Once it becomes a habit, your whole life starts to move faster and faster towards creating what you want.

You may recall the old saying, "If you think you can or think you cannot, you are probably right". The mind is so powerful that it will create what you believe is true or possible. In fact, the mind is such a powerful instrument, it can deliver to you literally everything you want. But you have to believe that what you want is possible. You also have to believe that you are capable of making it happen...Whether you call it self-esteem, self-confidence or self-assurance, it is a deep-seated belief that you have what it takes-the abilities, inner resources, talents and skills to create your desired results.

Nuero scientists have done experiments with the brain measuring what part of the brain becomes active when we are looking at an object versus visualizing the object. They’re conclusions are amazing. Dr. Joe Dispenza explains in the movie, What the Bleep Do We Know! an experiment where they had a person view an object as the scientists measured the electrical pulses in a certain area of the brain that were lit up. They then asked the person to close their eyes and visualize the object they had just look at. The same exact areas of the brain lit up with electrical pulses which gives a very startling finding. This finding explains why you can think about something in the past and get very emotional about it- almost like it is happening at the moment. Why am I writing about Self-Esteem in this book? The more clients I see, the more I realize that the quality of your life comes from your self-esteem…and it determines the actions you will take in life. You see, how you feel about yourself extends to every area of your life- your relationships, your career, what you do, how you speak, even how you dress. Just think about it for a moment. Your self-esteem, or opinion of yourself, is basically what will eventually make or break you in life. We all move in the direction of our current thoughts, so where you are is no accident. Words trigger pictures in your mind, which then trigger emotions, which in turn decide how you feel on a given day. Which words do you find yourself using often? This is a very important issue- how you talk about things really does have a HUGE impact on how you feel. If you keep affirming good opinions of yourself as part of your daily routine, you will start to see a shift in your attitude to a more positive and energized style. The opposite also applies, if you let your thoughts drift to negativity, which zaps your energy and self-confidence and motivation, than before you know it you will be down in the dumps and feeling depressed. Make a commitment now to start speaking with upbeat, energize words when having conversations with friends, family and co-workers.

You also have a responsibility to develop other people’s self-esteem and worth.

The the ultimate decision in life is simply to make your decisions and live your life as you want to live it, without infringing on the rights of others. However, the final decisions are your own and you shape your life either by decisions you make or those you do not make.

Networking: Is Your Approach Too Self-centered?

It's a classic mistake by networkers: their approach is focused on their own needs rather than on the needs of their contacts.

Fortunately, a popular new book by Bonnie Lowe makes it easy to solve this problem. The book, "Networkaholics Revealed! True Confessions From People Who Networked Their Way to Success (And How You Can Do the Same)," provides strategies and success stories from 49 master networkers.

Many of those strategies focus on how networkers can benefit from being selfless instead of selfish.

The goal is happier contacts, which ultimately translates into long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships.

"It's natural for people to look out for their own self interests when they start any important activity," Lowe said. "So many people focus their networking efforts on obtaining things they want (more leads, referrals, sales and business).

"But the best networkers know this is a huge mistake. While those desired outcomes are shared by all networkers, people who put others' needs before their own will reap far greater rewards."

According to Lowe, the first and most important step when striving to build a meaningful network is to consciously suspend your self interest.

Then follow these three steps:

1. Ask yourself, "How can I help them?" (instead of "How can they help me?").


Give a lot of thought to what you can offer them, such as:

* Something they cannot do.
* Something they will not do.
* Something they do not want to do.

"If you can do any of those three things, you immediately have value," said Chip Tarver, author of First Contact Secrets. "If you have value in a stranger's eyes, he/she will think you're worth getting to know. If you don't have value, why would they care about you? Your goal should be to help others. If your only goal is to help yourself, you're not going to be much of a networker, because you'll become known as a 'taker,' not a 'giver.' Givers have the greatest networks and they typically give out of a heart of giving, not out of selfishness to enrich themselves."

Dr. Harlan Kilstein, CEO of Overnight Copy, offers this strategy: "The best thing you can do, well before you meet with people, is find out about them, their businesses, their products, etc. Give them positive feedback. Most importantly, find out what you can do for them. That's the true definition of networking."

Ken McCarthy, Founder of Amacord, Inc., said, "Never look at people as a means to an end. I know a lot of people do that and become successful that way, but they flame out as people around them realize, 'This guy is totally in it for himself; he doesn't care about me.' People figure that out eventually. But if you offer service and are truly helpful to someone, then all doors open to you."

2. Be kind.

"One of my favorite bumper stickers is ", Lowe said. "That applies perfectly to networking."

Helena Bouchez, Owner of Lenalinks Creative Technical Writing & Consulting, said, "Acts of kindness have tremendous impact and create instant rapport. People do not expect it. You become top-of-mind for the person you help. It's not a linear process. All help given comes back multiplied – but not necessarily from the person you helped! A lot of people don't understand this and get very fixated on 'score keeping' and extracting something from the person they gave something to. That's not how it works. Generosity creates a positive vibe, and is a magnet for good situations."

3. Be patient.

Some benefits of your generosity will be immediate, but not all.

David Garfinkel, Founder of World Copywriting Institute, suggests, "Take a long-term view about 'getting yours.' Things can happen in a flash, but often you'll help someone and years later, just when you need it, people in your network will be there for you in ways you never could have anticipated."

In Summary

"All business is ultimately about people and relationships," said Lowe. "We all feel better doing business with people we like. When you are generous to others and genuinely care about helping them, they will naturally like you and want to help you in turn."

Giving first also invokes the universal law of reciprocity. In other words, if you do something for someone else, that person feels obliged to return the favor and do something for you.

The end result of all this generosity? Long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships!

The Real Magic "Bullets" of Internet Marketing

To really understand – you must read from beginning to end. That's how you will 'get it'!

A while ago I developed a package which wasn't available anywhere else in the world. In fact, that package is still unique – but that’s not the point.

The package was not the real secret, it was the content that was the fantastic.

All I did, was to package it in such a way, that made it completely unique, and that gave me the edge.

(Read that again – there’s a little HINT inside….!)

The content of the product / package really was Rock-Solid. It was real-life information, from a real-life expert, showing how to make real-life profits from real-life business and how they do it time and time again.

No make-believe hype, or over-zealous extravagance at all. No rubbish about how you can make $10,000 per month selling ice to Eskimos. No trosh about how the writer is better than you, and the only way to get even partially to their level, is to buy their products…..!

Just good stuff. (and no, I wasn't the author)

Anyway, I contacted a group of people, all of which I had assumed were experienced internet marketers, and understood business. I asked them if they would review the package, especially the content – and give me feedback about the product / package, the content and the website (both positive and negative).

In return, they would all receive a free package for their own use – after all, how can they review it, if they don't have it!

So, the feedback came in – and I was very grateful for it. Some minor amendments to the sales page on the website were suggested, increasing the price was mentioned a few times, but apart from that – it was all positive. The content, the books, the audios, the bonuses – everything – they all loved.

All……… except ONE person.

That person, who shall remain anonymous, said to me…………

- "Hey Gary – the package is too big. I can't even get through just 1 of the books in my lunch break, so how do you expect me to read to the other books?"

(I thought to myself……. HEY – do you expect to learn the strategies and techniques used every day, by a real-life expert who is responsible for MILLIONS of dollars worth of sales –in less than an hour? You need to devote a little more time to understand how success is created – than just the time between your Cream Cheese Bagel and your Diet Soda!!!)

(Then I realised that this person was complaining about the fact that the package was a combination of 4 completely different subject packages. Each one of them targeting a different aspect of online business, each one with it’s own book and multiple audio sessions….. OF COURSE you read them all, that’s the point of the package!!!)

- "And what's with the audios? I am supposed to READ AND LISTEN TOO?"

(Well, now I started to really think! What did this person mean exactly? Did they mean choose between a written version or an audio version……. Then I stopped, smiled – and moved on! You see, one of the best benefits of producing information, is the way in which you can deliver it. Not just the written word, but also audio and even video. You read in the 'sound' of your own voice inside your mind. You read at your own pace. You pick up certain aspects, at certain times – because that is how YOU work. However, the point of using Audio as well (not instead of) is to offer the reader / listener an alternative medium from which to learn / understand even more, because this time, you mind is listening to another person, another voice – and not just yours. This reinforces and strengthens information – it really does work!)

- "And what's with the bonuses….. they are all on the same topic, there not much good as bonuses."

(By now – my head is shaking so much I’ve put the paramedics on stand-by! It took me a few minutes to understand what they meant about the bonuses. Then I cracked it. This person looked at the bonuses, only to see each one of the bonuses (inside each of the four packages) – inside the main package – where all related to the subject of the package. Example – if you own a shop selling paint, and offer a special deal on a range of paint – you may offer a free brush set too. The brush set is obviously linked to the offer - paint.

Makes sense to me!! The bonuses to the package were all linked to the main item, but this person wasn't satisfied. They preferred to have something like a bag of potatoes with the special offer paint!!) - "And most important – none of the books give me any magic bullets. Where are the secrets which guarantee me more sales and more money and more success?????? Tell me."

(OK – here's the best bit! The Golden Nugget! The Crème de la Crème. I took THIS ONE by the horns, and replied to the person…….

Hi – thanks for your feedback. With reference to your question about where the Magic Bullets are in the package – before I answer you, can you please tell me how long you have been involved in internet marketing / business online?? Look forward to hearing from you….

4 days later, I receive a reply………..

- "I’ve been doing it for about a year. I spend about 2 hours a week if I can fit it in – mostly ads and stuff. I know I should be spending less time, but I’m not making any money yet. When I make money, I’ll work less. Why? What’s that gotta do with it?"

The very same day, I replied……………

Hi – thanks for your reply. One more question for you. In the time you’ve spent in internet marketing (about a year you said) - how many of the books, ebooks, websites, information you have read, have actually given you THE real secret that nobody knows – the Magic Bullet which guarantees you will make a fortune online – that one, single piece of information which can only make you a fortune??

How to Stay Focused on Your Home Business Goals

When you are the owner of a home business, you will find hundreds of distractions that vie for your time, energy and focus.

Common distractions include: children, family, friends, neighbors, pets, phone calls, mail, household chores, videogames, television, neighborhood children, visitors, and so many more.

As an owner of a home-based business, you must always remember your purpose in bringing your profession home. What was your reason for wanting to own a home business? Was your goal to work from home so that you can share in the lives of your children? Was your goal to be out from under the rule of a tyrannical boss? Was your goal to have the freedom to work when it is convenient for you? Was your goal to make tons of money working for yourself?

Here's a few good tips that will help you stay focused on your home business:

TIP #1:

Whatever your reason for going out on your own, you must keep your reason in the forefront of your mind. If you forget your reason for starting your own home business, you will not be working for yourself for long. It is far too easy to let circumstance drive your activities --- and when circumstance is in the driver's seat, you are more likely to crash and burn.

TIP #2:

Remember --- your own business is a lot like a real job. Some people go to work to play, some go to socialize, and others ---most often those who are paid in a commission or tip environment--- go to work to work and to make money. When you work for yourself, your salary is directly proportional to your productivity. Therefore, wouldn't it make sense to stay focused on getting as much done in as short of a period as possible?

Go to work to work and to make money. Leave playtime and recreation for when your workday has ended.

TIP #3:

When you are dealing with family in the course of your workday, it is important to schedule your activities as much as possible. With small children, you must take time when you must, but you should also work hard to make sure you dedicate a specific number of hours to your workday.

With older children, it is much easier to tell them that you will be working between the hours of x and y. Your children and your friends must understand that certain hours of your day are devoted to the activities of your business.

TIP #4:

Don't permit your friends and extended family to run over you. Many people get the blind idea that if one works from home then they are not actually working.

Well-meaning people may try to fill your doorway to bring advice about getting a real job. Others may simply believe that if you are at home, then you are fair game for chitchat and socialization.

You must stand firm. You must make certain your friends and family understands that when you are working, then you ARE working! If they wish to socialize with you, then they need to do it during the hours that are not dedicated to your home business.

You are the only one who can stand up for you. Your friends and family will seldom be able to appreciate your dedication to your home business, unless you make the effort to make sure that they have the same respect for your business that you do.

TIP #5:

You should allot a certain portion of your day to email and to regular mail. For example, allot one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon to handling your written communications.

Unless you dedicate certain times to the handling of these communications, you will soon find yourself on the downward slope of decreased productivity.

TIP #6:

When you find yourself spending too much time doingnon-productive activities, then you should seriously consider finding a third-party service provider who will assist you in those non-profitable business activities.

As an example, you might be in the mail-order business. You might believe that your time is best spent writing ad copy and setting up your advertising, but you find yourself spending far too much time taking care of your books to take care of your advertising in the manner that you should. In this event, it might make more sense to hire a bookkeeper to handle your financial records for you.

CONCLUSION:

In the end, the success of your home business is entirely and completely reliant upon you and the decisions that you make.

You had your reasons for deciding to start your own home-based business. You must always keep your reasons in the forefront of your mind. You must always be able to rely upon your own self and your dedication to the success of your business.

Your friends and family might be annoyed that they cannot come visit upon their own whim, but when success comes to you and your business, they will better appreciate you for putting your foot down when necessary.

Success is within your reach, if only you can stay focused on your goals. You must decide to reach for your goals, and then, you must have the discipline necessary to reach them.
